Info on HAM radios?

Who here knows about HAM/SSB radios?
I am looking into this at this time for the Bug-out RV.
http://goldismoney.info/forums/showp...3&postcount=32
I dont know much at this time about this but am doing the homework.
I would like a HAM more than the SSB as I had on the sailboat.
I would like transmitter/receiver and an antenna tuner for the SUB type antenna on the top for the RV.
Oh by the way I have no money for thisSo looking for cheep..
Say $500~$600 all and all.
I dont know what Im looking at on ebay. Can you help?
Hey CajunCoin you know about this do you not?
Thanks All for some help.

HAM radios? The ones made out of metal and transistors probably work better, and won't attract flies quite as fast.

I remember a guy on 10 meters that used to run the "MFJ junknet" this was back when 10 meters was really open during cycle 22. He used to have check-ins from all over the place. Basically you don't by MFJ equipment. Just go on Ebay and find you a good EF Johnson Matchbox.

Go to ARRL.ORG or W5YI.org to start the odyessy, first obtain the license then the knowledge of the ether will follow and how signals jump from antenna to antenna.

One must be patient grasshopper to adsorb knowledge which is the first step to enlightment.
